1. hugo, directed by my film teacher (i learned a lot watching il mio viaggio in italia and a personal journey through american movies) martin scorsese. ganun pala ang feeling nang naiiyak na may 3d glasses. gross. ang galing na teacher ni marty. nakakahawa ang passion nya for the movies.
4. joe's uncle boonmee who can recall his past lives. apichatpong weerasethakul ends his movie with a thai pop song (reminds one of that tropical malady song; my life and tropical malady are profoundly linked, to exaggerate quite a bit). now what remains a mystery to me is this: the song fits. perfectly. in a movie with ghosts of long dead wives and soldiers taking pictures of corpses of maybe suspected communists and lost sons turning into ape-like creatures and ugly princesses and catfish getting it on. these elements (in one movie) don't make sense when written and read. like dreams don't make sense when you tell your friends about them the next day. and a pop song ideally would sound improper in a movie with ghosts and princesses getting it on with talking catfish. but everything works. and fits. and it's not the mystery that sticks but the melancholy and tenderness and beauty and filth of life and living near death. ang cute pa ni joe.

boonsong
5. finally, unofficially yours. here's what me and my friends thought of it, we have a friendship pact that we'd watch all john lloyd-cathy garcia molina movies (we did not like that one set in malaysia, the rest we can quote like mean girls):
